Five Ways to Get Involved at Derby Hills

Below are five ways parents/guardians and community members can get involved at Derby Hills Elementary.

F.I.R.E (Families Involved in Reaching Excellence)

Formerly Known at PTO, F.I.R.E meets monthly and has several working committees that help out school with events like Dragon Dash, dodgeball night, conference meals, teacher appreciation and so much more. If you would like to join, please reach out to Dr. Amber Hock at ahock@usd260.com.

Watch D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students)

Meeting monthly, this nationally-recognized program aims to get any positive community member involved in the day-to-day happenings at our school. This could look like being involved with recess, the safety and security of Derby Hills and other ways to help us be our best. If you are interested in Watch D.O.G.S, contact Adelaide Law at derbyhillswatchdogs@gmail.com.

Site Council

Meets quarterly with Principal, Dr. Brent Wolf, to talk about systems, school structure, data, accreditation status, district initiatives and safety and security.

Day-To-Day Help

Seasonal classroom parties, reading to students, helping teachers with tasks and assisting with lunchroom and/or recess are just a few ways to help out if you are available and interested.

Crosswalk Duty

Traditionally housed under the umbrella of the Watch D.O.G.S program, Derby Hills is still in need of more Crosswalk Volunteers. Pick any school day, any morning or afternoon and we can plug you in happily.

Interested in Site Council, day-to-day help or crosswalk duty? Contact Dr. Brent Wolf, Derby Hills Principal at bwolf@usd260.com.
